What is available

Two sponsor tiers and a handful of sponsored-card placements. Rates are quoted on request while we finish pricing; nothing on this page is a price list.

• Sponsors strip — Above the footer on every page: the major sponsor's logo and a line, supporting logos.
• Sponsors page — /sponsors — every sponsor by tier, with a blurb and a link.
• Home page card — One native card between the home page's sections.
• News page card — One native card in the news list.
• Headlines page card — One native card below the headlines.
• Newsletter — One sponsored block in an issue of Wellington This Week.

The rules we keep

These are built into the site, not just promised.

• Every sponsored card is labelled “Sponsored”, in the card, in plain sight. Readers are never left guessing.
• One card per page, at most. A page is a page, not a billboard.
• Never in Fiona’s answers. Ask the assistant anything and you get sources, not sponsors.
• Never on civic pages — meetings, votes, council business, elections. Not even the strip changes there.
• Never next to a story about the advertiser. A card is withheld from any page that names its advertiser.
• Every creative is approved by a person at the Roundup before it runs, and we can pause it at any time.
• Sponsorship buys presence, never coverage. Sponsors have no say in what we cover or how.
• We take no side in the equestrian preserve and development questions and accept no sponsor with a stake in them.

Coming: weekly placements by auction

Card placements will be offered week by week to verified local businesses through a sealed-bid auction — highest bid wins at the second price, one advertiser per category per placement, creative approved before it runs.
