Terms of service

Wellington Roundup is an independent local information service run by Felican.AI, at 500 S Australian Ave, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. We are not the Village of Wellington and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Palm Beach County, Wellington International, the United States Polo Association, or any other government body, venue or publication we report on.

Nothing on this site is an official notice. In an emergency, or for anything that actually binds you — permits, code enforcement, records, deadlines — rely on the issuing agency. For the Village that is wellingtonfl.gov.

An account needs a working email address. You are responsible for what happens under it, so use an address only you can read — anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.

We do not set a minimum age, because we do not check one. That is a statement of fact, not permission: accounts include direct messaging with strangers and public comments, and a parent should decide whether that is appropriate before a child signs up. See Privacy → Children.

We can suspend an account that is used to harass people, post unlawful content, spam, or break these terms.

You keep ownership of what you write and upload. By posting it here you give us permission to display and distribute it on the site and in the newsletter — that is all, and it is only so the thing you posted can appear where you posted it.

Don't post:

• Anything unlawful, threatening, or harassing.
• Untrue statements of fact about a real, identifiable person. This is a small town and comments can be posted directly on a named person's profile — that is exactly the situation where an invented accusation does real damage.
• Other people's private information.
• Work you do not have the right to share.
• Spam, scams, or bulk promotional posting.

Comments are checked before they appear. An automated classifier scores every comment and post; if it is confident the content is abusive it is blocked, and if it is unsure the comment is held for a person to look at. Comments about a named person's profile are held on a lower threshold than comments on an article, deliberately. If the check fails or is unavailable, the comment is held rather than published.

You can report a comment or a message. Enough reports on one comment pull it out of public view automatically until it is reviewed.

Removal is not erasure. When you or we remove something it stops being visible, but the text is retained along with a record of the removal — so a complaint made later still has the evidence attached. This is described in full under Privacy → Deleting things.

Direct and group messages are private to the people in the conversation, and we do not have a screen that lets us browse them. We can see an individual message in two cases: someone in it reports it, or the automatic filter blocked or held it when it was sent.

Messages are not encrypted — they are stored as readable text. Please do not send anything here that would hurt you if it were read. If you join a group chat, you can see everything said in it before you arrived.

You can control who is allowed to message you, and you can block someone. Blocking works in both directions and is immediate.

Fiona can be wrong. She writes answers with a language model from records we have gathered, and language models make mistakes — including confident ones. Treat every answer as a starting point, and follow the citation before you rely on it. Answers carry links to their sources, with the date the source published and the date we retrieved it wherever we know them; when a record genuinely has no date, we show none rather than invent one.

Fiona does not speak for the Village. She is instructed never to write as or for the Village of Wellington or any government agency, to stay neutral on local politics, and to say she does not know rather than guess. If you need official Village information she will point you to wellingtonfl.gov, and so do we.

Do not type anything into Fiona — or say it on the phone line — that you would not want leaving our systems. Your question goes to outside AI providers, listed by name under Privacy → Who else sees your information.

Don't use the assistant to attack the site: no automated scraping of it, no attempts to make it produce unlawful content, no trying to extract other people's information.

Calling Fiona is calling a computer, and the greeting says so. Standard call rates from your carrier apply.

We do not record calls. Florida requires everyone on a call to agree before it can be recorded, and we do not ask for that, so recording is off. Questions you ask are still saved as text. If you ask Fiona to send you an email or a text message, we keep a record of the address or number and the words you agreed to.

Signing up is free and takes two steps: you enter your address, and nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email. Every issue carries our postal address and a working unsubscribe link. One click stops every email we send you.

For precision: the unsubscribe link is in the body of the email. We do not currently send the mail-header version that puts an unsubscribe button in the top bar of some email apps.

When a giveaway is running, confirming your newsletter subscription enters you in it. Six things are true of it today, and each is enforced in the software rather than merely promised:

• No purchase necessary. Nothing in the entry path takes payment.
• One entry per subscriber, enforced by the database.
• The winner is drawn at random from the entries.
• Entries close on the stated date shown with the prize.
• You are entered when you confirm your email address, not when you submit the form.
• You can opt out of the giveaway and stay subscribed.

The full sweepstakes terms are not finalised. Who formally sponsors the promotion, the minimum age, which places are eligible, prize substitution, the odds wording, how long a winner has to claim, whether a winner's name is published, and how tax is handled — none of those are settled yet, and we are not going to invent them on this page. They are being written with legal advice before any giveaway of consequence runs.

No giveaway has run yet, which is why you may see no giveaway on the signup form: that section only appears when one is genuinely open.

The site indexes and links to public sources. For local news publishers we link and summarise — we do not republish their articles, and their words remain theirs. Each source's licence position is set out on the sources page.

Illustrations and section artwork on the site are AI-generated and are not photographs of any real place, person or event. News story plates, business listings and civic records never carry generated imagery.

If you publish something we link to and want a correction, a removal, or for us to stop reading your site entirely, write to [email protected].

The site is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that it is available, complete, current or correct. Event times change, agendas move, businesses close, and the AI makes mistakes.

Anything that matters — a meeting you must attend, a deadline, a closure, a road, an emergency — check it with the source before you act on it. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from relying on this site. Nothing here is legal, financial, medical or professional advice.

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Florida, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts sitting in Palm Beach County, Florida.

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and they describe the site as it actually works on that date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
