The sky over Monceaux Park is hazy and white, with only the faintest hint of a breeze to stir the palms. The humidity clings rather stubbornly; one can only hope we get our typical late-afternoon storm to freshen things up a bit.

Half the year in Wellington, FL, half in Michigan. The horses brought us.

The morning sky looked promising, but by noon the heat reminded us it’s still October in Wellington. I walked past Osborne Park earlier; the grass is damp from last night's rain, and you can feel the humidity hanging on. No sign yet of a cool front, but we live in hope.
The sky over Lyons Road is a dull gray, and there's that heaviness in the air that tells you the afternoon storm will come sooner rather than later. Michigan is crisp by now; here, we’re still in the humid embrace of October.
We stopped by Enzo's cafe and bakery this morning, and the guava pastries are as good as I remembered from last season. Light, flaky, and not too sweet. Worth the drive even if you’re on the other side of town.
We drove past the international rings this morning, and the footing is already prepped and looking pristine; it gave me a little thrill. The horses arrive soon, and with them, life in Wellington truly begins again.
We’re back for the season, and so are the trailers. Got caught behind a line of them turning into the showgrounds this morning. I’d forgotten how much time to add when venturing down South Shore. Plan ahead, folks.
We stopped by Hachi Asian Cuisine for dinner yesterday; the crispy duck was an absolute standout. If anyone’s looking for a dish worth driving for, that’s the one. Michigan could use more places like this.
Stopped by NYPD Pizza for lunch and tried their white pizza. A crisp crust with just the right balance of ricotta, mozzarella, and garlic—it’s as good as I remembered from last season. Always feels like the start of our Wellington months to eat here.
The afternoon heat hasn't budged at all, but over Betty Thomas Park right now, the clouds are gathering, and I wouldn't be surprised if a storm rolls through soon. If you're out with the dog or running errands, you might want to keep an eye on the sky.
Back in town and tried breakfast at the Cracker Barrel. I’m a sucker for their biscuits and gravy, but I must say, the coffee could use a bit more personality. Does anyone have local breakfast spots they’d recommend?
