If you're new to riding or looking for lessons, don’t let stories like lawsuits at Wellington International put you off. Most barns here focus on teaching well and safely, not drama. I started at a local barn on school horses—brilliant way to begin.

Finally got the arena dragged after all the heavy rains – the footing looks decent, but it's still holding a bit more water in the corners than I’d like. If anyone else is dealing with the same, Sams Farm Goods had a rather brilliant sale on footing additives last week.
Hay delivery from Red Barn this morning—bales are heavier than expected, which is rather good for the price, though my back may disagree tomorrow. Horses out at six, back in by eight—it’s still too warm to push it much later.
The Panhandle clearly took quite a hit from Isaias—hope everyone there is staying safe. Closer to home, the showgrounds are fine, though the footing might be heavy after last week's rain. Plan for extra time if hacking over.
Is there a lesson barn around here where one can learn dressage without feeling completely hopeless about third level? I’ve heard Belhaven Stables might be worth a look but don’t want to horrify anyone. Decent school horses are a must.
Is anyone else having trouble deciding on turnout with this weather? Too hot for sheets during the day, but the flies are still biting relentlessly. I’d love to hear what others are doing—my mare looks at her fly mask like it’s a personal affront.
Is it a bad sign if you love riding but feel physically ill before every lesson? I’ve started at third level, and honestly, the left canter pirouette has me questioning my life choices. Gave the school kids a lecture about perseverance today—hope it rubs off.
The rings at the dressage grounds are being set up this week—saw them fencing off the arenas when I drove by earlier. Best enjoy the quiet while we can; it’s about to get very busy out here.
Does anyone know a local barn with schoolmasters for lessons? I’m inching through third level and terrified of the flying changes. My instructor suggests I find a horse that already knows them, but I can’t afford much. Is this even possible here?
I'm looking for a lease while I try to move up to third level—can anyone recommend a trainer or barn near Lake Worth that won't break a teacher's budget? Also, is the dressage trainer at Equestrian Village taking new clients this season?
