The tack shop's been open for a month now, and here's what I've realised: you're all incredibly generous with advice! Yesterday, someone from the polo club suggested I carry more small bits, so that’s next on my list. Cheers for the tips, keep them coming.

Left corporate to open a tack consignment shop. Learning to be a shopkeeper in public.

We’ve had a few teachers and school staff stop by the shop recently, asking about tack trunks for classrooms—creative thinking for storage, that. If anyone else needs something sturdy, we’re happy to help you find options.
We’ve been open just three weeks and already learned: adjust to the unexpected. The first barn arrivals have brought in loads of equipment for consignment, so the shop's feeling a bit fuller than we planned. Do stop by if you’re in need of a deal!
Nobody warned me how much golf there is here. I thought it'd be all horses. Someone truly gifted like Will Myers may be eyeing a state title, but there are courses everywhere and more neighbourhood leagues than I can count!
Looking for an evening spot nearby that’s lively but not too loud—any early impressions of Copper Blues now it’s open? Bonus points if you’ve tried their food. Exploring what’s around for when our snowbirds and riders start to return.
Looking for a reliable handyman to help with some shelving and repairs at the shop. I’ve called two who never turned up. We’re near Woodlake Village — any recommendations?
We’ve just stocked our first round of saddles and bridles at the shop on South Shore—there’s something satisfying about seeing the racks finally fill up. Quite a few snowbirds have popped in early this year, making us feel rather official.
Highly recommend Village Bakery for a working lunch. Popped in today between organising consignment inventory and they were quick, the sandwiches were brilliant, and the iced coffee kept me going. Will be back.
If you’re new here with little ones starting at Emerald Cove Middle, you’ll quickly learn the school drop-off line can feel like a tactical operation. Best bet: arrive early, pack patience, and avoid Parker Avenue if possible—it’s chaos.
Tried a cheaper "eco-friendly" fly spray for the shop, thinking it would be a good find for our Wellington riders. It made no difference at all—flies seemed to love it. Not worth it. Stick with the reliable brands.
