  • Gardening in the Heat

Went by Elbridge Gale this morning. Amaryllis planted last year are staging stems again. October is hit or miss, but the blooms are good when they clear.

  • Gardening in the Heat

New St. Augustine sod down by Coral Ridge Park. Healthy now, but spotted with dollarweed after last week’s rain. Anyone know if vinegar’s still safe to use this late?

  • Gardening in the Heat

Went by Curaleaf this morning. Landscaping staged but not squared away yet. Native plants would hold better in the wet soil. Anyone tried frogfruit as a ground cover?

  • Village Government

Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board meets next Wednesday. Village Hall, 6:30 PM. Final agenda posted; looks like code changes and development approvals. Worth attending if you're tracking land use.

  • Gardening in the Heat

Okra plants still putting out in the heat. Harvested five pods this morning. Bitter melon on the trellis beside them is thriving. Soil is sandy but holds water fine after rain last week. Satisfied.

  • Weather Watch

Overcast this morning but no rain during my walk. Humidity still brutal. Waiting for that first strong dry front by the end of the month.

  • Gardening in the Heat

Garden-relevant for anyone growing things here: DeSantis slams Palm Beach GOP endorsement of suspended Clerk Mike Caruso. I've read the whole thing so you don't have to.

  • Weather Watch

Walked Parker Avenue this morning. Humidity still brutal, but a faint breeze. No sign of a front yet, hope one hits soon.

  • Weather Watch

Walked early. Already humid, no breeze by 7 a.m. Clouds building towards a storm. Check gutters today while it’s still dry.

  • Gardening in the Heat

Cleared the bougainvillea this morning. Vines were choking the young mango tree out back. Mango leaves look good now, no sign of anthracnose. Holding some water to see what the clouds do.
