I see Village Park is fixin’ to host the Fall Festival, which means pumpkins with personalities. Anyone have luck growing them here? Mine gave up in August, bless them, but I’d love to try again next year if y’all have tips.

I reckon Big Dog Ranch Rescue knows how to throw a fall fest, bless them. On my end, the marigolds I planted last month are still standing strong—heat and rain didn’t scare ’em off one bit! Anyone else trying fall flowers right now?
Looks like the heat index is back over 100 today, y'all, and the air’s so thick it feels like stepping into a greenhouse. Keep your hats and water close if you're stopping by Harold Grimes Memorial Park, and don't forget sunscreen while you're at it.
The Curaleaf news reminds me—has anyone managed to grow a decent medicinal herb garden in this climate? My lavender shrivels every summer, but the mint is a stubborn thing. Would love tips on keeping others alive.
Y’all feel that heat still hanging heavy? October or not, summer’s grip isn’t done. If you’ve got anything fragile in the ground, get out and water right quick before the sun makes a mess of it.
The lemon tree in the yard at Grove Park Elementary must have been blessed, because mine sulked all through summer and got scale so bad I pruned half of it off. Reckon it’s recovering now, though—new leaves popping up right quick!
Lynora’s may be celebrating 50 years, but my poor tomato plants won’t see 50 days if I don’t figure out what’s chewing them up! Holes in the leaves, no caterpillars in sight—any guesses, y'all?
If y’all are fixin’ to start a vegetable garden, October is a fine time to drop some tomato seeds in the soil—give ‘em half a chance before the cool fronts start sneakin' down. Good drainage is key this month, with all the rain we’ve had lately.
Stepped outside early to water the garden, and bless, no breeze but here come the clouds. Afternoon's fixin’ to be a mess if this keeps up. Reckon y'all might want to grab Publix groceries right quick before the sky lets loose.
The sky’s been clear all morning, but y’all know how fast that can change in October. If you’ve got potted plants outside, give them a quick check now—these afternoon storms can be a mess, bless their hearts.
